1996 Renault Sport Spider
Unlike so many Spiders, this particular example stands out as remaining unmodified and exactly as Renault intended. This is perhaps a reflection of the fact that the car has been used only on the road and not as a track weapon. You will not see tailpipes poking out of the rear, the interior hacked for installation of 4-point harnesses or a sound system. The Renault Sport Spider is as pure a driving machine as you could find and that, in my opinion, is how it should remain.

With the previous owner for almosty 10 years, the car has been used when practically possible to do so. Enthusiasts as we are, as we see it there is no point in owning a car simply to have it sat in the garage collecting dust, these fantastic cars were built to be driven. Having completed several continental touring trips, the car has always performed faultlessly and proved exceptionally reliable.

Overall the car is well presented and in very good condition. All four wheels are unmarked and the tyres in excellent condition with several thousand miles remaining in them. The fibreglass bodywork has withstood the test of time with no significant marks or damage to note. It has never been accident damaged nor had any panels replaced.

Having been regularly driven and covering a total of just 28,000 miles, needless to say the car is not completely unmarked and totally immaculate. As with any fibreglass bodied car, it has picked up its fair share of stone chips across the bonnet. Though consideration was given to a front end respray, placing a high value on originality, the car presents itself honestly with nothing to hide. The stone chips aside, there are only odd marks to note as you would expect of any car approaching 20 years of age.

The interior, as with the rest of the car, is completely original and unmodified. The aluminium chassis has not been modified to accommodate speakers; the fibreglass panel behind the seats has not been cut to allow for installation of 4-point harnesses; no additional gauges have been added; the original steering wheel remains. You will find small marks here and there, but again nothing that you would not expect from a car of this age.

Mechanically the car is exceptional. Though the mileage may be slightly higher than many Renault Sport Spiders, with just 28,000 recorded miles it really has covered very little distance; approximately just 1,500 miles per year. With this regular use it is not subject to the issues or concerns associated with cars having stood for extended periods of time; there is no necessity for recommissioning of any sort.

The car retains all dealer supplied accessories including a tool case and aluminium presentation folder containing all original documentation.

Benefiting from a recent full and very comprehensive service including cambelt change along with a fresh MOT, the car is fully prepared for immediate enjoyment (weather permitting).

Make no mistake, this is an appreciating modern classic offered at a 'winter' price.
